It is indeed a 1iron club! I’ve never tried the EQLs, but I’m sure I would like them since the concept is the same as the 1irons. Pure Fit Golf is the other company that I’m aware of that does same length clubs.
Yeah, when you are used to having to roll back over on the way down…the occasional duck hook is a common miss at first.
I’m happy to hear of your tremendous improvement!

Haha, I never heard the “FORE!” before…good catch. Very observant about the edit too. I’m good at ad-libbing on camera, but for these videos I actually scripted everything out and was reading from cue cards below the camera. I’d read a page or so at a time and then we edited it all together when we got home. I find that pre-scripted videos are a little bit more concise…and it’s easier to speak clearly and stay on topic.

Jaacob,
I’ve been golfing for 8 years and this is the best tip I’ve ever heard. I’m still having a bit of trouble with the occasional duck hook because my hands still want to manipulate the clubhead, but other than that, my game has improved tremendously. Thank you Jaacob.

P.S. It’s nice to see you using the One Iron golf club in this video too! I use the Tommy Armour EQLs.

There’s also a video on YouTube called “Jaacob Bowden Driver Swing” that endofct? posted from one of Dan’s DVDs. It’s just a subtle looking difference from a conventional swing, but the accuracy is quite different.

Dan Shauger teaches a counter-rotating swing on his website. That’s what spawned the “Spin the Meatballs” explanation video on the SwingManGolf YouTube Channel. We’ve also got a video internally on the Swing Man Golf website that’s gets in to several kinds of hand actions…including some different analogies to explain how the counter rotation works.

Glad to see the concept working for you. The tour players are so good because they know where the blade is and rotate an open blade to “hit ” the ball where they want. They don’t swing for perfection they are constantly adjusting with their swing to the course. It looks the same but the rythm makes it consistent. I would not know personally how to time a club face already share to the ball… seems like I’d have to slow down rather than accelerate. But if it works, A+++++!! Happy golfing!
the second swing …
the second swing you showed us would cause a hook at times if you tend to roll your wrist. i use the second swing and i gennerally draw the ball and sometimes hit a low hookie shot. i might try this swing out tomorrow and i might actually hit it straight without the big draw

well my instructor said i should do it and it turned out great. Every shot was a draw.
really good advice …
really good advice and would advise anyone to give it a go. I have only been playing just under 2 yrs and attempted to emulate the pro’s after attending The Open at Birkdale last year. Since then I have stuggled to score below 100 due to inaccuracy of shots. I have tried this twice since last week and have broke 90 twice, the second of which was 83 on a par 71. The technique definitely works for me. Just a shame I didn’t find this back in August.
My original …
My original wrist-hinge caused me to slice; ie the handshake position. I regularly failed to bring the clubface back to square at impact in an attempt to gain more distance by holding the hinge as long as possible before impact. The trouble was that my timing and technique meant that on many occasions I presented an open club face, or even the hossle of the club to the ball. When I did manage to time it, the distance was improved; however, was it worth the inconsistency. The technique above is
