I have the worst slice, it goes about 50 yards to the right. if i aim to the left to even the slice out it goes farther to the right. I also can drive the ball farther with a 3 wood than my driver why?

OK first of all aiming to the left makes your slice worst when you aim left you open up your shoulders your swing tends to follow your shoulder alignment with open shoulders you swing very upright and come into the ball from the severe outside causing a severe pull or dreaded slice.

Here is your cure don’t just aim right align your shoulders just left of your target get used to it will take time lay a club across your chest on the range make sure it is just left the reason is you set up along side of the golf ball doing all of this will make your swing a bit flatter and on plane this is the first cure to fix your slice.

This change may feel awkward but feel is not real so give it time work on your set up and hit a light draw good luck.

One thing is practice, practice, practice. Another thing is what quality of driver are you using? I didn’t think it made much difference until I gave up my dept. store generic for a Taylormade. Combined with some tips about my grip, I straightened out my ugly slice and gained 75 yards in distance.

Start with the 3 fundamentals – grip, stance, and ball position. These three things are the easiest to learn and the first to be forgotten. An instructor or a well versed player can show you these. Also you need to understand what happens at impact with the golf ball. The club head strikes the ball first and then enters the turf taking a divot (divot is in front of ball). This is the most essential part of striking a golf ball (with the exception of a driver which you’re hitting on the upswing).

I’m an amateur golf player learning all I can. I love the game and starting to improve my swing.
I picked up this book the other day, called “Shooting an Albatross, by Steven R. Lundin.
This is a book for anyone that enjoys the genre of intrigue, suspense, and romance. It would be a great movie to watch one day it has a great storyline.
